About Pimax Crystal's upscaling function

Beta testing for Pimax Crystal's upscaling mode is now open. If you'd like to join the early access program, please contact calvin.yau@pimax.com with the email address associated with your Pimax Play account and your headset serial number.

Initially, the upscaling feature was available for Crystal Light, with the goal of enabling a more comfortable PC VR experience even on low- to mid-range GPUs, but based on customer feedback, we will be adding this feature to the original Pimax Crystal as well.

Pimax Sync 2024

Pimax recently held its Sync event, where they announced progress in various areas. Along with this, they have also updated their FAQs, which cover frequently asked questions. You can find more details here . It's packed with in-depth information on Crystal Light, Crystal Super, 60G Airlink, the Pimax Prime membership program, and more. Whether you're looking for a cost-effective Pimax headset or the world's first retina-level VR experience, this FAQ will answer all your questions.

About 50 PPD QLED Lens

Here are some key points about the 50 PPD QLED version of Crystal Super. We are currently in the final stages of fine-tuning the details and preparing for mass production and shipment. (Unlike the 57 PPD version, the 50 PPD version is scheduled to ship in March 2025, not January.)

At last month's Sync event, we primarily announced the 57 PPD version, which is being touted as the world's first retina-level VR headset, and also mentioned that a 50 PPD QLED version will be sold separately.

While we have already completed development of the 50 PPD glass lens, the lens diameter is larger than the 57 PPD lens to achieve an ultra-wide viewing angle, which we are concerned may affect the weight and wearing comfort for some users. Furthermore, to provide the best wearing experience, we are also developing a new lens type that combines glass with other materials to optimize the balance between optical performance and weight.

(The aspherical lens of the 57 PPD QLED version is made of glass and remains unchanged. We still recommend the 57 PPD version, as it boasts an extremely wide viewing angle of 120 degrees horizontally and incredible sharpness.)
