Tusayan, Arizona - September 20, 2023
At the official preview event for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, invited journalists and content creators had the opportunity to experience the highly anticipated title, which is scheduled for release in November. Microsoft chose Pimax VR headsets, popular among flight simulator enthusiasts, to deliver the VR (virtual reality) experience.
Jörg Neumann, head of Microsoft Flight Simulator, revealed in a previous broadcast that approximately 10% to 15% of MSFS2020 players use VR. MSFS2024 builds on the success of MSFS2020, with improved VR performance being a key innovation. The VR industry as a whole has also made significant advancements in terms of hardware over the past four years.
For this event, Microsoft selected Pimax headsets to provide the VR experience. Pimax is a very popular VR brand among racing and flight simulation enthusiasts, and its high-end PC VR headsets are also known for their high fidelity and wide field of view (FOV). The headsets used by participating journalists and content creators were the Pimax Crystal Light, which features 17 million pixels and glass aspherical lenses.

Attending media included well-known publications such as IGN, Gamestar, and Polygon. In a video, TheVRPilot said, "When I was invited to this event, the first thing I asked them was, 'Do you have VR?' They answered, 'Yes,' and when I tried out Pimax Crystal Light, it was amazing and I absolutely loved it."
Polman also tried out Pimax Crystal Light and said, "If you thought MSFS2020 was great, you'll be blown away by the graphics quality of MSFS2024."
Darius Matusiak of GamePressure commented, "You can fly the helicopter using dedicated controllers (for the joystick, collective, and torque pedals) and a Pimax Crystal Light VR headset, which really enhances the experience."
Sérgio Costa of HeliSimmer also uses Crystal Light and says of his gaming experience, "The advances in technology are truly amazing. The world is much more realistic and alive than before."
